Rs 40000 fraudulently withdrawn through ATM from man’s bank account

Raipur, Feb 23: In a bizarre instance of fraud reported in Sejbahar police station, unidentified accused had reportedly withdrawn Rs 40000 through ATM card from the complainant’s bank account being maintained at Kawardha.
According to police, complainant Krishna Prasad Tiwari of Dunda has a saving bank account in Kawardha branch of Jila Sahakari Bank. On the intervening night of February 19 and 20, Tiwari received four messages one after another stating withdrawal of Rs 40000 in four equal installments. Stunned upon receiving the messages, Tiwari contacted his bank on the following day where he was informed that the money has been withdrawn from bank account using his ATM card. However, the ATM card was completely safe with the complainant he had not used it at all since some days now.
Following his complainant, police have registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against unidentified fraud and is now investigating the matter further.
