Meenal Choubey elected Leader of Opposition in RMC

Raipur, Mar 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday declared the name of senior Corporator Meenal Choubey as Leader of BJP Corporators who would represent the party as Leader of Opposition in Raipur Municipal Corporation.
Convenor of the electoral process and former BJP President Vikram Usendi informed that Choubey has been unanimously elected Leader of BJP Corporators in RMC and added that approval from the State BJP President Vishnu Deo Sai too has been taken on her name. According to the information received, apart from Meenal Choubey, the former Leader of Opposition Surakant Rathore and senior Corporator from Sunder Nagar ward Mritunjay Dubey were also in fray for the coveted post. However after consultation with the other BJP Corporators and taking the opinion from the Core Group members, the party leadership has taken decision in favour of Meenal Choubey.
With the above decision, the delay over nomination of Leader of Opposition in RMC too has been shorted out and now Meenal Choubey would be Leader of Opposition to raise the party on issues related with civic affairs.
Three times senior Corporator Meenal Choubey was preferred over the other seasoned leaders due to her strong hold within the Organization as well as to give fresh face opportunity to represent BJP in the RMC. While Raipur South MLA Brijmohan Agrawal and Lok Sabha member from Raipur Sunil Soni were advocated the name of Suryakant Rathore, the organizational leaders as well as former Minister Rajesh Munat was supporting the candidature of Meenal Choubey for the said post. After hectic consultation for the last two days, the Convenor of Leader of Opposition Election Vikram Usendi declared the name of Meenal Choubey for the said post.
