Raipur, Sept 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Narayan Chandel on Tuesday raised questions on the functioning of Chhattisgarh government stating that a large number of people have exodus from the region to other states in search of livelihood.
In a statement issued here, the BJP MLA claimed that the tall claims of State Government over employment opportunities appears to be hollow as large number of people have been moving out of Chhattisgarh to other states in search of employment opportunities.
Chandel said that while the Congress during the previous regime, had been making lot of noise over exodus, but with coming to power, it has taken no concrete steps in this regard to check the movement of people in search of employment. Chandel further stated that the state government had accepted while replying to a question in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly that nearly 18801 labourers have exodus from Janjgir-Champa District itself whereas the figure may be many times if exodus from other Districts of Chhattisgarh are added on.
He also expressed his annoyance over failure of government machinery on the exodus as well as the date related with it. BJP MLA alleged that lackluster attitude of Congress government has forced thousands of labourers to migrate to various places in search of employment. He said that when the labourers had returned back to Chhattisgarh after lockdown due to Covid pandemic, the state government has not taken any steps to ensure that they remain back to Chhattisgarh.
He further added that instead of providing relief to the labourers, the state government is resorting to cheap politics resulting in denial of benefits of Narendra Modi led government at Centre.
