Man duped of Rs 3.10 lakh on pretext of installing mobile phone tower

Raipur, Mar 07: A shop owner of Raipura Chowk has reportedly been duped of Rs 3.10 lakh by frauds who lured him into installing a mobile phone tower atop is shop for lucrative monthly rentals. A complaint in this regard was lodged in DD Nagar police station on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, complainant Vinod Kumar Agrawal of Jainam Vihar near MMI Hospital is owner a shop situated at Raipura Chowk. On May 25, 2019, Agrawal received a message about installing Airtel Company’s mobile phone tower atop his shop at a lucrative monthly rental. With Agrawal calling back at the given telephone number in the message, he was told that the tower installation was part of the company’s major expansion programme. It was also assured that the earnings will start right from the day the tower installation work is completed.
Not understanding that he is falling into fraud trap, Agrawal agreed to fulfill all the formalities for installing the mobile phone tower atop his shop. Finding him falling in his trap, the frauds made him deposit a total of Rs 3.10 lakh in two bank accounts 0713748459 and 796900013875. While the sought payments were duly made by Agrawal on the very day he was asked for it, no person came from the company to undertake the tower installation process.
Disturbed over the delay, Agrawal called over the telephone numbers he was talking for the tower installation and when he started demanding back his money, the frauds simply switched off their cell phones and went out of contact.
Police, meanwhile, have registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against holders of both the above mentioned bank accounts and is now investigating the matter further.
