Khelo India: Players will get free residential training

Raipur, Feb 05: The boys and girls of the state who are under 17 years of age and who are willing to take admission in the Sports Academy of Bilaspur or Raipur, can register themselves in the District Office of Sports and Youth Welfare Department of their district by February 12, 2021. For registration, the applicant’s name, father’s name, date of birth, full address, mobile number, sports name, consent letter of his guardian will have to be submitted. According to the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, “Khelo India Center of Excellence” is being started in the next financial year under the Government of India’s sports scheme in Raipur and Bilaspur. The center will be a residential sports academy in which children of hockey, athletics and archery will be given free training. State level sports academy is being started by the Sports Department in Bilaspur as well as Raipur. In which training in hockey, athletics and archery will be provided.
Children, who will get admission in sports academies of Raipur and Bilaspur, will be provided accommodation, food, educational expenses, sports apparel, accident insurance and sports training facilities, free of cost by the sports department. Girls from 09 to 17 years of age who are interested in hockey, athletics, archery and want to get sports training by staying in Bilaspur or Raipur regularly, can join the selection process for admission to the academy of Raipur and Bilaspur. The district level selection trial will be held from February 5 to February 17. Selected boys and girls in the district level selection trial will be included in the state level selection trial.
The maximum number of players participating from the district is 10 boys, 10 girls in hockey, 12 boys, 12 girls in athletics, 06 boys, 06 girls in archery. Sports Department will bear the expenses of commuting to participate in state level selection trials.
In the state level selection trial, selected boys and girls will be given admission in the academy in the event of fulfilling other eligibility related qualifications and free sports training, education, accommodation and food will also be arranged for them.
