Form Sickle Cell units in each District: Singh Deo

Raipur, Sep 07: Minister for Health and Family Welfare TS Singh Deo held the need for identification, prevention and screening of Sickle Cell in the state. For this intensive screening campaign be launched by forming Sickle Cell Unit in each district. He also gave instructions to make OPD arrangements for better treatment of Sickle Cell apart from IPD and advance version along with starting facilities for research works. Health Minister Singh Deo was holding review of works with board of directors of Chhattisgarh Sickle Cell Institute (CSCI) at his official residence here on Tuesday.
Health Minister TS Singh Deo said that in order to identify the areas in the state where this disease is more in number, the screening tests should be increased. It is by identifying the normal Sickling (AS) and large Sickling (SS), Singh Deo asked to prepare better alternative for its treatment. Minister Singh Deo took information about budget for Sickle Cell Institute, opening of new sickle cell screening and consultation centre; taking services of experts in the field; availability of human resources; making Sickle Cell Clinic and consultation and Day-care online and developing e-class (digital room) of the Institute and hosts of other departmental agenda. The meeting was attended by Secretary Health Deptt R Prasanna, CGMC MD Kartikey Goyal, Director General Sickle Cell Institute Dr PK Patra, Vice-Chancellor Ayush University Dr AK Chandrakar, Director Medical Education Dr Vishnudutt and other senior officers from Finance and Law Department.
