Singhdeo officially elevated as Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh

Congress heavy-weight leader and Cabinet Minister Tribhuvaneshwar Saran Singh has been officially elevated as Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Governor has issued notification from the Raj Bhawan Secretariat which stated that TS Singhdeo has been appointed as Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh on the recommendation of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

It is notable that the Congress President Mallikajun Kharge had accepted the proposal to appoint TS Singhdeo as Deputy CM after a high-level meeting held in New Delhi.

Congress sources said that elevation of Singhdeo as Deputy CM ahead of the next Legislative Assembly polls was considered to be an attempt to strengthen the Congress with the objective to return to power.

Earlier, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel welcomed TS Singhdeo during the Cabinet meeting held at his official residence here on Thursday.

Later in the evening, TS Singhdeo called on Governor Vishwabushan Harichandan at Raj Bhawan to pay a courtesy visit.

With the above notification, the 70-year old Singhdeo has become the first Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in the year 2000.
