EOW-ACB traps grade-II assistant taking Rs 5000 bribe
Raipur, Aug 23: The Ambikapur unit of EOW-ACB on Monday trapped a grade-II assistant at Surajpur SDM office after nabbing him red-handed taking bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant for diverting his land to commercial usage.
According to police, the complainant owns a land in village Ramanujnagar in Surajpur district and had applied at the Surajpur SDM office to get his land converted to that of commercial usage. Despite all the documents and required formalities were duly submitted by the complainant, accused grade-II assistant Muneshwar Ram was deliberately withheld the process and recently demanded that the diversion will be done only upon paying a bribe of Rs 50000.
Following his complaint, EOW-ACB got verified the allegation through its sources and resources and once it was confirmed, the complainant was sent to the accused for giving him the first installment of Rs 5000. According, the complainant handed over Rs 5000 on Monday to the grade-II assistant and he was soon nabbed red-handed by the following EOW-ACB team. Arrested accused was immediately taken into custody and booked under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further investigation in this regard is now underway.
