Awareness programme in schools for prevention of dengue

Raipur, Aug 27: A public awareness campaign is being conducted in various schools of Raipur under the joint aegis of Community Medicine Department of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College and Chief Medical and Health Officer, Raipur for the prevention of dengue. To this end the Community Medicine Department created awareness about dengue prevention among students and teachers of Government Mathpurina School, BP Pujari English Medium School, Rajatalab, Swami Atmanand Shaheed Memorial School, RD Tiwari English Medium School Azad Chowk and Mayaram Surjan School in Choubey Colony on August 26. Similarly teachers and students in Government Higher Secondary School Changorabhatha, Government Higher Secondary School Mowa and JN Pandey School were made aware of dengue prevention on Friday.
All students and teachers were given information about dengue causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment during awareness campaign. They were also advised to clean the water collected in the house every Sunday or once a week. Doctors in Raipur Medical College told the school students that water accumulation during the rainy season water would create breeding ground for mosquitoes spreading diseases like dengue and malaria. Dengue mosquito bites during the day, so it is necessary to wear full-sleeved clothes besides making people in surroundings around awar of it. Enthusiasm was seen among the school students and teachers regarding this programme.
All the school students took a pledge to adopt ways to prevent dengue and to make others aware in future for the prevention of diseases like dengue. Dr Nirmal Verma (Professor and Head of Department), Dr Kamlesh Jain (Professor), Dr Shubhra Agarwal Gupta, Dr Mini Sharma, Dr Neha Srivastava, Dr Tripti Chandrakar, Dr Prashant Jaiswalpi along with all the postgraduate students were present.
