Task Force meeting constituted by the State Planning Commission

Raipur, Jul 25: The first meeting of the Task Force constituted on the development of agriculture, water conservation, food processing and allied sectors was held at Planning Bhawan, Nava Raipur under the chairmanship of Pradeep Sharma, Advisor, Chief Minister Chhattisgarh.
Dr. K. Subramaniam, Member, State Planning Commission informed that 14 Task Forces have been constituted by the State Planning Commission, Chhattisgarh to provide suggestions and recommendations for the overall development of the State. Subject experts, social workers and public representatives and departmental officers have been included in the task force constituted on the subject related to “Agriculture, Water Conservation, Food Processing and Development of Allied Sectors”.
In the meeting, Pradeep Sharma gave suggestions for the progress made in relation to the government’s ambitious plans Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa, Bari and the possibility of better implementation. He emphasized on the concept of holistic rural development while ensuring better utilization of available resources. Keeping in view the immense potential of fisheries in the state, he explained the need for development of fisheries policy and aquaculture village of the state.
Explaining the need for continuous encouragement and capacity development for the active participation of Gouthan Committee, he said that many women self-help groups are earning income by selling vermi compost in Gouthan. Suggestions were sought from the task force for effective marketing of vermicompost and other products produced by the groups through Rural Industrial Park.
Anoop Kumar Srivastava, Member Secretary, State Planning Commission said that it would be appropriate to decide on green procurement policy to promote organic and natural farming in the state. In the meeting, Yashwant Kumar, Director, Agriculture stressed on developing e-commerce facility for effective marketing. It was informed by the Director, Animal Husbandry that innovations such as use of sex sorted semen, heat synchronization technology have been successfully used as a pilot project by the department which can be implemented on a large scale in the state.
