PCC chief gherao Collectorate, demands 1 cr compensation

Raipur, Oct 05: PCC Chief Mohan Markam has strongly condemned arrest of Priyanka Gandhi in UP and has demanded the Lucknow administration to allow her to meet the family members of the deceased farmers reportedly run-over by jeeps in broad daylight.
When he was stopped by the police, he staged sit-in at Ambedkar Chowk Raipur itself and raised demand for judicial probe into the matter by a sitting-judge of High Court and compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family members of the deceased.
It was based upon call by PCC Chief Mohan Markam, Congmen gheraoed Collectorate in all the district headquarters and submitted memorandum in the name of the President of India, demanding removal of UP Government.
In the Collectorate gherao programme here on Tuesday, the local PCC office bearers, MPs, former MPs, MLAs, former MLA candidates, ex-MLAs, DCC office bearers, BCC President and office bearers, district and block office bearers of different Morchas of DCCs and BCCs and public representatives of three-tier Panchayati system and Congress party workers in large number were present.

Cong burn effigy over Lakhimpur incident

Raipur: To register protest over killing of farmers during the Lakhimpur agitation of farmers, the Congress workers here burnt the effigy of Prime Minister. Group of Congress workers under the leadership of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) General Secretary Kanhaiya Agrawal and Raipur City General Secretary Md Saddik claimed that the anti-farmer face of BJP has been exposed with the Lakhimpur incident. They burnt the effigy of Prime Minister to register protest. Md Saddik further lashed at Harayana Chief Minister who has made comment to appoint goons to throw out the farmers from villages in the BJP ruled Haryana.
Prominent among those present during the demonstration were Navin Chandrakar, Dinesh Thakur and other Congress workers.
