Class 12 results: CBSE records highest ever 99.37 pass percentage

New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recorded the highest ever pass percentage of 99.37 in this year’s class 12 results, declared on Friday, with girls outshining boys by a slender margin of 0.54 per cent.
The pass percentage increased by over 10 percentage points against last year’s 88.78 per cent. The difference between the pass percentage of girls and boys was nearly 6 per cent last year. The board has announced the results on basis of an alternate assessment policy after the exams were cancelled in view of the aggressive second wave of COVID-19. According to the policy decided by a 13-member panel of the board, the theory paper evaluation formula is 30 per cent weightage to Class 10 marks, another 30 per cent to Class 11 marks and 40 per cent weightage to marks obtained in Class 12 unit test, mid-term, pre-board exams.
“For the implementation of tabulation policy successfully and in the given time frame, it was considered important to facilitate the work to be done by teachers. So, in order to facilitate schools and help them in compilation and moderation of results and reduce any inadvertent errors on their part, a comprehensive and feature-rich system was developed by IT team of the CBSE,” said CBSE Examinations Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj noted that there were about a lakh students who were from boards other than CBSE.
“The schools were requested to verify their roll numbers, name of candidates and name of the Board so that their data could be taken from the Boards concerned. “The system also calculated class 10 component based on data taken from various Boards. It also facilitated schools in uploading of class 10 marks for non-CBSE candidates whose data could not be received from board concerned and calculation of its 30 per cent component,” he said.
The number of candidates scoring above 95 per cent has increased from 38,686 last year to 70,004 this year. However, the number of candidates scoring between 90-95 per cent has gone down from 1,57,934 to 1,50,152.
Only 6,149 students have been placed under compartment as against 87,650 students last year.
“The compartment examination will be conducted between August 16 to September 15. The exact dates will be announced in some time,” Bhardwaj said.

Wait not over for 65,000 students, their result to be declared by Aug 5

New Delhi: The wait is not over for nearly 65,000 class 12 students whose results are yet to be declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). “The result of about 1,060 new schools is still under process as there was no reference year. Hence, the board is looking into the interest of these candidates and their result will be declared latest by August 5,” said Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations.
These students have been placed under the “results later” category in today’s announcement of scores.
