Security forces rescue 30 passengers after Naxals derail train

Bacheli/Dantewada, Apr 24: The Police rescued at least 30 passengers on Friday after Naxals derailed a train they were travelling in near Dantewada. All passengers have safely returned to their respective homes, confirmed the police.
According to Dantewada Superintendant of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallav, a passenger train carrying 30 passengers was derailed by Naxals between Bhansi and Bacheli on late Friday night. The train got derailed but no passenger was hurt. The District Reserve Guard jawans were immediately rushed to the derailment site as they helped in safely evacuating the passengers from the train. The incident took place at about 9 pm on Friday when a special train 08516 from Vishakhaptnam to Kirandul got derailed between Dantewada and Bacheli near Nerli bridge after track was damaged allegedly by Maoists by removing the fish plate. Engine and one SLR coach got derailed. On seeing the Maoist banner and poster, loco pilot showed his presence of mind and stopped the train before the bridge and luckily no one was injured.
Maoists gave posters to passengers: After the train stopped armed Maoists boarded the train and handed over posters to passengers while appealing to canvas for Bharat Bandh called by Maoists on April 26.
