Youth held for abduction and rape

Bhilai, Jul 19: Police have arrested a 26-year-old youth on charges of abducting and raping a minor girl. The accused is identified as Jaidev Soni (26) son of Gorakh Lal Soni a resident of Titurdeeh, Nayapara, Durg. Police had received a complaint regarding missing of a minor girl on March 13, 2020.
The girl had suddenly gone missing on March 12, 2020. Since then, police were constantly tracing her location and succeeded in rescuing the girl on July 18, 2021. Her statement was recorded in which she disclosed the name of Jaidev Soni. He had lured the girl to flee with him on the promise of marriage. The accused established sexual relations with the girl and kept her with him for about any year.
The accused has been booked under the provisions mentioned in sections 366, 376 of IPC and Sections 4, 6 of POCSO Act. SI Uma Thakur, Constable Alauddin Sheikh and Narendra Sahare played a vital role in rescuing the girl.
