Raipur: A fraud, posing an executive from a private finance company, has duped a young woman of Rs 31200 on pretext of providing her easy educational loan through her company.
The fraud was reported in Gudhiyari police station on Wednesday night following which police is now investigating the matter further. According to police, complainant Anjali Mishra of Gudhiyari was in need of educational loan to pursue her MBA course. In this regard, she had applied for loan with various banks but failed to secure loan from any bank due to less annual income of her family.
Anjali then started looking for financial institutions over internet that could provide her the assistance to pursue her desire for higher studies. In this regard, she came through information about a financial institution named Bandhan Finance which promised easy educational loans. Contacting the website, Anjali was provided a telephone number for providing further details.
Calling on that number, Anjali was greeted by an executive who identified himself as Rajesh Kumar who sought through Whatsapp from her a copy of her marksheet, Aadhar Card, PAN card, bank account details for pursuing her application. The caller also made her deposit Rs 31200 on various pretext of fulfilling various loan formalities.
While, Anjali deposited all the fees she was asked for, the promised loan was not provided to her. Instead, the caller asked her to despot further Rs 250000. This new demand made Anjali suspicious and she sought back her money saying she does not need the loan anymore. This demand of Anjali resulted in the caller switching off his telephone number and simply went out of contact. Police, meanwhile, have registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against the caller identified as Rajesh Kumar and is now investigating the matter further.
