Bhilai, Jul 02: The annual exam results of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) declared by Hemchand Yadav University (Durg University) has triggered widespread resentment among the candidates those who appeared in the examination of this under graduate course. A number of students have found anomalies and mistakes in the mark sheets available on university’s website. The overall result of this under graduate course was very poor in Durg Universuty this session. Though the results available on the website are for immediate information and the university admits that there can be typical errors, but it has given sleepless nights to several students those who had worked hard for this exam.
On Monday, more than three dozen students reached the Durg University with complaint of mistakes in the results available on website. The students complained that they had appeared in all the papers but the results are showing them absent. A student who appeared as private candidate from St Thomas College informed that he had appeared in all the eight papers but the result is showing him present only in the paper of Management Accounting. He has been marked absent in other papers and the total marks obtained in each subject are also zero.
Another student who appeared as regular candidate from Sai Mahavidyalaya, Sector 6 informed that he also appeared in all the eight papers. He was very much confident of clearing all the papers as he had done well in the exam. But he was shocked after downloading the result from the university website as the result shows him absent in all the papers.
Similar was the complaint of several other students. Some other students complained that they have been failed for one or two marks in more than two subjects. They asserted that such type of paper checking was never conducted in the history of Chhattisgarh based universities. Generally the students are provided grace marks and are declared ‘pass’ if he / she needs one or two marks to clear a subject. The students have submitted written complaints at the office of Durg University on assurance that the anomalies and mistakes would be corrected within five – six days.
It needs to be mentioned here that the B Com result was declared by Durg University on June 30 on its website ‘www.durguniv.in’. 3991 students had appeared in this exam out of which only 1061 had succeeded to clear. 1083 were declared ‘fail’ while 1594 have got supplementary.
