Voting material supplied to polling parties in Birgaon and Gobra Nawapara

Raipur, Dec 19: Election material was distributed to the polling parties from Advani Oerlikon Government Higher Secondary School, Birgaon for the voting to be held on 20th December in Municipal Corporation Birgaon under Civic Election-2021. Similarly, voting material was distributed in the Government Harihar Higher Secondary School, Navapara for civic by election to be held in Municipal Council, Gobra Navapara.
Returning Officer BB Panchbhai informed that polling would be held on 20th December for 40 wards of Birgaon Municipal Corporation. As many as 186 candidates are in the fray in Birgaon Municipal Corporation election. Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and Chhattisgarh Janta Congress (J) have fielded 40 candidates each while 20 candidates belong to other parties. Moreover 46 independent candidates are contesting elections.
A total of 95 polling stations have been set up in Birgaon Municipal Corporation. Polling will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Total 80441 voters including 36799 women, 43,627 men and 15 others will exercise franchise in this election.
Similarly, bye-election is being held in Ward No. 14 of Gobra Nawapara, Municipal Council of Raipur district.
Four candidates including one from Indian National Congress, one from Bharatiya Janata Party and two independent candidates are in the fray in this ward. Two polling stations have been set up.
As many as 1091 voters including 546 women and 545 men will exercise their franchise in this by-election.
On December 23, the counting of votes will be done in Advani Oerlikon Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Birgaon of Municipal Corporation Birgaon and in Government Harihar Higher Secondary School, Navapara of Nagar Palika Parishad Gobra Nawapara.
