Vehicles on highway come to grinding halt as CSAS member stage chakka-jam

The members of Chhattisgarh Sarv Adivasi Samaj(CSAS) staged chakka-jam all over the state on thestate-highways in support of their demands and this led to traffic jam at many places.
CSAS in support of their 22-point demands staged chakka-jam in different districts and this included Bhanupratapur, Antagarh, Durgukondal, Korar of Kanker district and in Balod, Kurud, Kondagaon, Raigarh, Korba and other districts.
It is notable here that with demand for action into Silger firing incident and other 21 demands, Sarv Adivasi Samaj (CSAS) is staging movement for last few months. It was after regular dharna and protest, they organized economic blockade. Office bearers of CSAS BS Ravate claimed that out of 28 districts in the state, they caused chakka-jam on the highways of 20 districts and this brought wheels of vehicles to grinding halt. During this only the vehicles related to emergency services were allowed to move in the district. During talks with Media, President CSAS Mohan Pottai said that last time when there was a question that this movement is not being supported by the tribals of the state, on this he said that the tribal MLAs fear that their ticket may get cut in the next elections, but this time the tribal community is ready to teach them a lesson. The organization has decided to intensify its movement after one-day chakka-jam.
Prominent among the demands of CSAS include, filing of FIR against the persons opening fire on innocent tribals holding peaceful protest in Gram Silger and compensation of Rs 50 lakh family member of the victim and Rs 5 lakh to those who got injured. The state government should take initiative for finding permanent solution to naxal problem holding coordination with all parties; do not fill the vacant SC, ST reserved posts for promotion till the stay on reservation in promotion is not lifted by HC; introduce reservation roaster in filling of backlog in government posts and new recruitment; introduce cent percent reservation for domicile for recruitment of class III and IV under the Vth Schedule; instead of land acquisition for mineral excavation in the state, the land owner be made share holder taking it on lease; immediate action on those working with fake caste certificates and others.
