Vaccination for 18 plus people to re-start from Sunday

Central Chronicle News
Raipur, Jun 05: Arrival of nearly 1.40 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine on Saturday afternoon, would pave way for restarting the vaccination campaign for the eligible people from 18 to 44 years in Chhattisgarh.
According to the information received, 12 boxes of Covishield vaccine reached here from Mumbai flight. Airport officials handed over the consignment weighing 384 kgs to the Health Department.
Officials said that the vaccination would re-start from Sunday onwards for the 18 plus people. Vaccination Officer Dr Amar Singh Thakur said that 1.40 lakh doses of Covishield reached here. It would be allotted to various Districts as per the existing demand to re-start the campaign from Sunday onwards.
It is notable that the vaccination for 18 plus people had been badly affected due to the shortage of vaccine. Several Districts including Raipur could not get vaccine for the eligible group for the last one week. Due to the unavailability of vaccine only 7 lakh youth have been so far given vaccine doses out of the eligible nearly 1 crore people in Chhattisgarh.
State Government had been on the receiving end due to the unavailability of vaccine as the principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been holding it responsible for slow pace of vaccination in Chhattisgarh.
