Having access to free Railway wi-fi, a Kerala youth who worked as a porter, cracked the written exam of the Kerala Public Service Commission.
Sreenath K may not have had the time to go through hefty books to prepare for the competitive exams but he plugged in his earphones and let the course work play as he carried the luggage of the passengers.
This alone helped him to crack the written exams.
Sreenath has been earning his livelihood carrying heavy luggage at Ernakulam Junction in Kerala for the past five years.
A high school pass-out, he takes advantage of the free WiFi Internet service available at Ernakulam station to grasp the subjects.
He said that having appeared thrice for the exam, this was the first time that he employed free WiFi at the station.
The WiFi service was launched in 2016 as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative.
The initiative provides free Internet to passengers under Railwire, the retail broadband distribution model of RailTel Corporation of India Limited.
