Raipur, May 21:
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday chaired a meeting of Forest, Water Resources, Agriculture, and PHE department officials. In the meeting, Chief Minister discussed the need to utilize water in rivulets for recharging and increasing groundwater table. In the meeting, officials of forest department, water resource department and experts of the subject have presentation on detailed project models designed for water recharging, water augmentation, water harvesting.
Chief Minister said that proper strategized scientific steps should be taken to increase the level of surface water, enhance soil moisture and increase groundwater table. He directed forest department, water resource department and PHE department to coordinate and make a combined model and proposal for the same. He said that entire country, including Chhattisgarh, is facing the challenge of declining groundwater-level. Chhattisgarh should play a leading role in this scenario by presenting a model project of water conservation and augmentation. On the occasion, Cooperatives Minister Mr. Premsai Singh, Urban Administration Minister Mr. Shiv Daharia, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Anila Bhedia, Industry Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, Chief Secretary Mr. Sunil Kujur, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. CK Khetan, Principal Secretary Mr. RP Mandal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Pradeep Sharma and officials of other departments concerned.
