URM records best ever finished rail production

Bhilai, Mar 14: SAIL Bhilai Steel Plant’s Modex unit, Universal Rail Mill that rolls out the world’s longest 130 metre rails in single piece has recorded its highest ever monthly production of finished rails in the month of February 2021. URM recorded Finished Rail Production of 65,499 Tonnes in Feb 21, surpassing previous best of 65,220 T produced in Oct 2020.
The Plant’s Refractory Materials Plant 3, also a Modex unit too has recorded its best monthly performance in the month of Feb 21. RMP-3 recorded production of 31,509 Tonnes in Feb 21, surpassing previous best of 28,184 T recorded in January ’21. Several other shops of the Plant have recorded their best February performance. Coke Ovens recorded equivalent Oven pushing/Day of 779, surpassing previous best of 764 in Feb 1995. The Plant’s total Hot Metal of 4,45,762 T in Feb 21 was best for any February month, surpassing previous best of 4,43,715 T in Feb 2008.
Total Cast Steel Production of 2,11,700 T by Plant in Feb 21 was also best for any February month, surpassing previous best of 1,56,878 T in Feb 2020. Coke Rate of 453.3 Kg/THM recorded in Blast Furnaces 1 to 8 was also best for any February month, surpassing previous best of 456 in Feb 2020.
