Two-member team of Centre inspects Ambedkar Hospital

A two-member high-level team of the Center visited the Ambedkar Hospital on Saturday to review the continuous efforts being made by the state’s largest government hospital towards COVID-19 management. The two-member high level team of the centre comprised Anaesthetist of Lady Hardinge Medical College New Delhi and Critical Care Expert Dr Nishant Kumar and Dr Manisha M Ruikar of AIIMS Raipur Community Medicine Department. The central team members talked to Ambedkar Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Vinit Jain and
Critical Care Expert Dr OP Sunderani over COVID 19 management and treatment. They took note of the technical and practical challenges coming before the hospital in management and treatment of COVID-19 patients. They also discussed measures to overcome these challenges. Critical Care Expert Dr OP Sunderani informed about the availability of beds, ventilators, medical oxygen supply and essential medicines in the Intensive Care Unit of Ambedkar’s Specialized COVID Hospital. At the same time, hospital superintendent Dr Vinit Jain informed the team about the patients currently admitted for treatment of Covid-19 in the hospital, doctors available in the hospital, nursing staff and paramedical staff. The central team admired the facility of treatment of COVID-19 made available by the hospital in the form of Tertiary Level Care Hospital cum Referral Center. The team also admired the medical staff, nursing staff and paramedical staff who are rendering services
in the hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. During the inspection of the team, Dr Nitish and Suraj Punjabi, biomedical engineer of Ambedkar Hospital were also present. Recently, in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases in some states and the continuation of the daily mortality rate, the Central Government has formed 50 high-powered multi-dimensional public health teams and deployed them in 50 districts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Punjab.
These teams have been dispatched to 30 districts of Maharashtra, 11 districts of Chhattisgarh and 9 districts of Punjab to assist the State Health Department and local authorities in monitoring, control and preventive measures related to Covid-19. The two-member high-powered team consists of a physician / epidemiologist and a public health specialist. These teams will monitor the implementation of the entire Covid-19 management, especially testing, enforcement of Covid appropriate behavior availability of beds in the hospital, adequate supply of ambulances, ventilators, medical oxygen etc. and Covid-19 vaccination.
