TUs call for strike on June 30; serve notice

Bhilai, Jun 14: In view of the obstinate attitude of SAIL management, the central leadership of all the trade unions including BMS, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU and LPF involved in NJCS had conducted a virtual meeting on June 09 to discuss the issues related to the wage revision and other facilities of SAIL employees as well as contract workers.
A charter of demands was unanimously released which include (1) finalisation of the pending salary revision of SAIL employees from 1/1/2017 that too with 15% MGB, 35% perks, 9% pension contribution, (2) pay full arrears from 1/1/2017, (3) revise the salary of the contract workers as well, (4) provide compassionate employment to dependents of the employees and contract workers who died due to Covid-19 and provide compensation of Rs 15 lakh and medical facilities to their families, (5) implement the pending issues of late wage revision, (6) respectful designation to diploma holders and ITI trained employees, (7) unconditional revocation of suspension orders issued to employees in BSP and BSL, (8) and protest against privatization of units of RINL and SAIL.
After stretched discussions and in view of the anti-employee and anti-worker proposal brought so far by the SAIL management, the trade unions unanimously chalked out a schedule of protests.
The trade unions will show black flags and the employees will be urged to wear black badges / ribbons on June 28, 2021. On June 29, 2021, the trade union leaders accompanied by workmen will stage hunger strike at all the units of SAIL. On June 30, 2021, one day strike would be staged at units of SAIL as well as Captive Mines and RINL. As per the rules, a notice of strike has to be served 15 days before the strike.
In this sequel, the leaders of various trade unions active in Bhilai Steel Plant conducted a meeting at INTUC Office in Sector 3 on June 10, 2021 and it was decided to follow the aforesaid schedule of agitation.
On Monday, representatives of Steel Employees Union (INTUC), Bhilai Steel Mazdoor Sabha (AITUC), Bhilai Shramik Sabha (HMS), Hindustan Steel Employees Union (CITU), Center of Steel Workers Bhilai (AICCTU), Ispat Shramik Manch, Steel Workers Union, Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU) and BSP (SAIL) Contract Workers Union (HMS) jointly served the notice of strike. JN Thakur, General Manager IR, Bhilai Steel Plant, received the notices addressed to the Director Incharge of Bhilai Steel Plant regarding strike on June 30, 2021.
SK Baghel, Sanjay Sahu from Steel Employees Union (INTUC); Vinod Kumar Soni, Shankar Nayak from Bhilai Steel Mazdoor Sabha (AITUC); HS Mishra, Pramod Mishra from Bhilai Shramik Sabha (HMS); Savita Malviya, SP Dey from Hindustan Steel Employees Union (CITU), Ashok Miri, Shyamlal Sahu from Center of Steel Workers Bhilai (AICCTU), Rajesh Agarwal, Sheikh Mehmood from Ispat Shramik Manch; Nand Kishore Gupta, Sanjay Gupta from Steel Workers Union; Yogesh Soni from Hindustan Ispat Theka Shramik Union (CITU) and Lakhwinder Singh from BSP (SAIL) Theka Shramik Union (HMS) served the notices.
The unions have called upon all the employees and contract workers working in Bhilai Steel Plant to gear up for ensuring success of the strike proposed on June 30, 2021.
