Raipur, Jul 03: The Treasury bench and principal opposition Congress members on Tuesday exchanged heated words in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly during Zero Hour on the proposal of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader TS Singhdeo to cancel the membership of three expelled Congress Legislator Amit Jogi as well as Rajendra Kumar Rai and Siyaram Kaushik on the grounds of anti-party activities. During the Zero Hour, the senior Congress Legislator and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel sought time for debate on the issue from the Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal. In between, the Treasury bench members including the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Chandrakar and Higher Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey ranked up the issue of absence of Dr Renu Jogi in the meeting of CLP as reportedly she had not been invited. Terming it to be an insult to Dr Renu Jogi, the Treasury bench wanted from Congress to clear the stand on her status. Congress members launched scathing attack on BJP Legislator Shivratan Sharma when he sought the reasons behind the move of Congress seeking cancellation of membership of three Legislators from Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. CLP leader TS Singhdeo came heavily on the Treasury bench stating their stand to be unfortunate. Deputy CLP leader Kawashi Lakhma alleged that the Ministers are resorting to Politics into the affairs of Congress.
However, the Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal rejected the demand of Treasury bench and BJP Legislators stating that the issue of Dr Renu Jogi, is an internal subject of Congress. Regarding the notice of CLP leader TS Singhdeo on cancellation of membership of three Congress Legislators, he said that he would consult the expert before taking a decision on the issue.
However, the Treasury bench and Opposition members kept on raising slogans against each other. Amidst pandemonium like situation, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of Assembly for five minutes.
