Trailer driver runs away with iron bars worth Rs 9.38 lakh

Raipur: In a sheer instance of breach of trust, a trailer driver has gone missing with a consignment of iron bars worth Rs 9.38 lakh which he was supposed to deliver at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

The incident has been reported in Khamtarai police station following which an investigation has been launched into the swindling. According to police, accused Chaand Khan of Bhojpura in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh is driver of a trailer bearing registration number UP25-AT-9040.

Chaand Khan got loaded a big consignment of iron bars into his vehicle on September 17 from complainant Virendra Kumar Singh’s depot near Bhanpuri Transport Nagar for delivering it at a warehouse in Lucknow. However, he is yet to reach the supposed destination and moreover there is now no contact with him over phone either.

Failing to trace the missing driver or the consignment of iron bars loaded in his trailer, Virendra Kumar lodged a complaint in Khamtarai police station following which police have registered an offence under Section 407 IPC against missing Chaand Khan and is now investigating the matter further.
