Toppo takes charge as Durg Divisional Commissioner

Bhilai, Jan 09: A Kulbhushan Toppo has taken charge as the Divisional Commissioner of Durg. He assumed office on Friday at Hindi Bhawan in Durg. Toppo will be the ninth Divisional Commissioner of Durg Division. Former Divisional Commissioner TC Mahawar had retired on December 31 after which the post of Durg Divisional Commissioner was vacant. Government has been given the responsibility of Durg division to Toppo as an additional responsibility along with the Divisional Commissioner of Raipur. It is noteworthy that Durg Division was established on February 28, 2014. Dr BL Tiwari was the first Divisional Commissioner who served the office from April 29, 2014 to February 28, 2015. He was replaced by AK Agrawal who worked here during February 28, 2015 to April 05, 2016. The third divisional commissioner was Thakur Ram Singh; fourth was Brajesh Chandra Mishra; fifth was Dilip Wasnikar, sixth was BL Gajpal, seventh was GR Churendra and TC Mahawar was the eighth divisional commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Monica Kodo and other officers and employees of Divisional Commissionerate welcomed Toppo on his arrival. It needs to be mentioned here that A Kulbhushan Toppo is a 2003 batch IAS officers. Earlier, he was posted as Director of Academy of Administration, Raipur; Divisional Commissioner of Sarguja Division, Secretary of Social Welfare Department; Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities, Secretary and Special Secretary of Forest Department, Member of Revenue Division Bilaspur, Special Secretary of Home Department, Secretary of Public Commission, Collector of Sukma and Additional Collector of Raipur District.
