Raipur, Aug 14: In today’s environment every woman needs to be empowered. If a woman does not get their rights, then the reason for this may be lack of confidence in them. Today every woman needs to become Rani Laxmibai. They should stop other woman being tortured and help her to motivate her confidence.
This was stated by Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey while addressing a webinar on ‘Role of Women in Indian Freedom Movement’ organized by Hemchand Yadav University. The Governor congratulated the participants who participated in the online competition. The Governor said that on the occasion of 75 years of independence, Amrit Mahotsav is being celebrated. Many people contributed in our freedom struggle. We know the names of many of them, but there are many who are lost in oblivion. The mention of such great heroes is very rare in our education system.
The new generation should get information about such great heroes, so Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to celebrate it as Amrit Mahotsav with the aim of remembering such great heroes. The Governor said that men and women jointly contributed in this fight for freedom. There are many names like Rani Lakshmibai, Rani Durgavati, Sarojini Naidu, Sucheta Kripalani who contributed in the freedom struggle. The Governor said that at that time the awareness of the condition of women was relatively low, even then there was so much passion in them that they actively participated in the freedom struggle.
She said that the Indian freedom struggle of 1857 was an event whose hero was a woman, the British also admired that woman. Seeing the leadership ability of Lakshmi Bai, the British General had said that this woman is very brave. Mahadevi, who was part of the army of Begum Hazrat Mahal, alone killed thirty-two British soldiers. The Governor said that the women of Chhattisgarh are also known for their sacrifice. Impressed by the appeal of donation made by Mahatma Gandhi during his stay in Raipur in 1920, women donated their jewelry, clothes and a large amount of cash. Under the influence of Gandhiji, women started promoting the freedom movement from village to village.
Ms. Uikey said that Mahatma Gandhi had said that whenever the history of Indian freedom struggle would be written. The sacrifice of Indian women will get a high position. There are many such women who have made important contributions to the Indian independence movement. We should take inspiration from them.
