Three arrested for stabbing youth during Ganesh procession

Raipur, Sept 23: Purani Basti police on Thursday arrested three assailants for allegedly stabbing and injuring a youth over a trivial dispute during Ganesh procession.
According to police, victim and complainant Rahul Soni of Malsai pond on Wednesday night was leading a Ganesh procession towards Lakhe Nagar Chowk. However at the very time another procession arrived there from Mai Ki Bagia locality and both the precessions straightway locked horns arguing about being allowed to move ahead first.
The argument soon turned violent with three assailants Dadhu Sonkar, Roshan Kumar and Narendra thrashed Rahul on the road itself and suddenly Dadu Sonkar whipped out a knife and stabbed Rahul in his abdomen. Rahul’s friend Pradeep rushed to help him but he too was severely manhandled by the assailants.
Later Rahul complained the incident in Purani Basti police station after which an offence under Section 294, 506, 323, 307, 34 IPC was registered against the named assailants and couple of other unidentified assailants. Taking strong note of the incident, police immediately flung into action and soon after midnight succeeded in arresting all three accused.
