Teenager drowns in Naya Raipur

A 19-year old teenager from Pandri’s Gandhi Nagar area has drowned in an abandoned and water-logged stone quarry in Naya Raipur area near Mana airport. Police have since fished out his body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
According to police, dozen odd teenagers including girls from Pandri had been to village Nakti near Mana airport for a picnic besides an abandoned but water-logged stone quarry. Reaching the spot, all of those teenagers got indulged in taking selfies. In the process, deceased Mohan Bagh (19) wanted to wash his hands. However, the moment he entered into the water and kept his feet on a stone, the stone rolled over and he was instantly thrown into the deep water. Though few others immediately ran to pull him out of the water but they could not succeed as the water is quite deep here and Mohan was soon sucked in.
Shocked by the incident, his friends immediately informed the matter to Mana police station from where a patrolling team accompanied by divers rushed to the spot and immediately launched a rescue operation.
However, it was too late by then and divers could only succeed in fishing out Mohan’s body after about an hour.
After sending the body to hospital for a post-mortem, Mana police have registered a complaint with regards to the incident and is now investigating the matter further.
