Team Bhilai rises to the occasion; sets new records in production

Bhilai, Sep 20: SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s graph of performance continues to rise with the Plant recording new high in production levels on Sept 19, 2020. While Modex unit, Blast Furnace 8 recorded its highest ever production of 9150 Tonnes of hot metal on Sept 19 as against previous best of 8765 T on March 17, the Plant has recorded total production
16,080 Tonnes of hot metal with only 4 furnaces in operation on Sept 19, 2020.
Even as other production units align their performance to increased production levels, another record was made on Sept 19 by the Bar & Rod Mill. The new & modern mill achieved best ever production of 10 mm TMT by rolling 699 billets on Sept 19, 2020 as against previous best of 603 billets rolled on August 03, 2020.
In his congratulatory message to the blast furnaces team and other allied shops, Director (Projects & Business Planning) SAIL and CEO, Bhilai Steel Plant, Anirban Dasgupta stated “heartiest congratulations to the Blast Furnace team and associated departments for a stellar performance, not only overall production from four furnaces but also record production from Mahamaya. Kudos to Team BRM for a record production in 10 mm Rebar. Let us keep up this tempo of production.”
Congratulating members of the blast furnaces team and members of other associated shops and allied services for maintaining the tempo of production, Executive Director (Works), Rajeev Sehgal stated that heightened levels of COVID preparedness made possible with synergized team efforts of several shops and agencies has contributed to uplifting the morale of the workforce. While endeavouring to ensure safe and clean work environment, the management has taken on board workers unions and the officers association. Several measures have recently been taken including sustained and large scale sanitisation at shop floors and adjoining areas. While distribution of special cotton gloves has begun, necessary steps are being taken to improve conditions of rest rooms inside the Plant.
Expressing his faith in the BSP Collective, Sehgal said that Team BSP that has always risen to the occasion needs only a little support to give their best. The focus on the hygiene and comfort aspects inside the Plant in the last few weeks has started yielding results and will go a long way towards further boosting the morale of the workforce. At the same time the focus on maintenance activities has also yielded rich dividends. All these synergized efforts to uplift performances and create the right work atmosphere will surely help in achieving targets set for Sept 2020 and in the months ahead, he stated.
