Tamil Nadu aims 100 bn exports by 2030, says state CM MK Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said an export target of a hundred billion US dollars has been set for the state industry to achieve by the year 2030. He gave away the best exporters award in an event organised by the Federation of Indian Exporters Association in Chennai yesterday.

In the function, he said the state’s export value last year stood at 26 billion dollars, accounting for 8.97 percent of the country’s total exports. He said currently the state is at third slot among the top performing states, adding efforts will be made to elevate it to the first position. He announced that a start-up promotion centre would be established in Chennai at a cost of 75 crore rupees. He also informed that the popular local products at district level will be promoted for exports. He said applications have been filed for securing Geographic Indications tag for twenty-four famous local products including the honey from Marthandam in Kanyakumari district, ornamental plates and Veena musical instruments from Thanjavur and turmeric from Erode
