
With the central government returning the name of Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice KM Joseph for elevation to top court, the Supreme Court Collegium met on Friday and unanimously agreed in principle to reiterate the recommendation.
It need be mentioned that the five-member Collegium comprises of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra as well as Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, MB Lokur and Kurian Joseph.
They held hour-long deliberations after which it was decided that Justice Joseph’s name should be accompanied with the recommendation of the names of Chief Justices of High Courts for elevation as judges of the Supreme Court.
The Collegium, in a resolution, said there was a need for further discussion on the issue of sending other names to the central government.
The meeting was then deferred its meeting till 16 May.
