
Bhilai, Sep 20: 10-day lockdown began in urban areas of Durg District on Sunday. The joint teams of District Police and Civic Bodies remained alert throughout the day and took against the violators with the aim of ensuring compliance of lockdown rules. District police and Traffic Police teams were deployed at 40 fixed points across the city. They intercepted the people found moving on roads and quizzed them about the reason of their commuting. Action was taken against those who were found moving without any appropriate reason. 35 patrolling parties and 35 vehicles of Dial 112 conducted intensive patrolling across the city. Eight routes entering Durg-Bhilai urban areas were barricaded.
On the instructions of BMC Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Deputy Commissioners Ashok Dwivedi and Tarun Pal Lehre, Zone Commissioner, Executive Engineer, Revenue Department team and other officials conducted inspection across the city. People were urged to follow the lockdown instructions strictly. The corporation team had become active a day ahead of lockdown.
Corporation team conducted inspection late evening on Saturday at Civic Centre area and took action against the violators. BMC’s Revenue Department team along with SDM Khemlal Verma and Deputy Commissioner Ashok Dwivedi recovered a fine of Rs 3200 from 7 traders conducting business beyond the scheduled time at Civic Centre.
The teams maintained vigil in Sector-6, 7, 8, 10 Markets, Nehru Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Gaurav Path, Ghasidas Nagar, Chhawani, Nandani Road, Power House, Netaji Subhash Market, Circular Market, Jawahar Market, Link Road and Supela Market.
Earlier, BMC officials conducted a meeting with the representatives of milk vendors and Wholesale Vegetable Market. They were detailed about the lockdown norms and were asked to cooperate. Penalty of Rs 13850 was collected from 33 people those who were found violating the lockdown.
