Steel Melting Shop 3 sets New Day Record of 60 Heats

Bhilai, Sep 25: SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Steel Melting Shop 3 (SMS-3) set a new day record of 60 heats producing 10,409 T crude steel on September 24, 2021, surpassing previous best day record of 58 heats on September 21, 2021. Director I/c, Bhilai Steel Plant Anirban Dasgupta congratulated SMS 3 & associated depts for record production.
Another achievement of SMS 3 has been successful flying tundish change operation carried out in CK2 billet caster in Continuous Casting Plant of SMS 3 in all 6 strands on September 24, 2021.
Congratulating SMS 3 & associated departments, Director I/c BSP Dasgupta stated that flying tundish operation in 150 sqmm billets in open casting is quite rare and there are not many instances of the same.
It may be recalled that flying tundish change operation was successfully carried in CV 1 bloom caster recently with new record of casting 34 heats in a sequence on September 13, 2021, surpassing previous best of 25 heats in a sequence.
