Sonali Bendre has thanked fans for showing her love and being by her side, and inspiring her with their stories of courage and strength.
The actress, who is undergoing treatment at the Sloan Keetering Hospital in New York, said that the “outpouring of love in the last few days has been so overwhelming”.
Quoting Chilean author Isabel Allende, who happens to be her favourite, Bendre wrote: “We don’t even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward. In times of tragedy, of war, of necessity, people do amazing things. The human capacity for survival and renewal is awesome.”
In the same post, there was a minute-long video which shows a hairdresser chopping off her locks, and Bendre breaking into a gasp soon after.
The 43-year-old actress also wrote that she is trying to keep her chin up, and is ready to take on the challenge that lies ahead, one day at a time.
“Each day comes with its own challenges and victories and so for now, I’m taking this #OneDayAtATime. The only thing I’m trying to be consistent about is maintaining a positive outlook..literally #SwitchOnTheSunshine it’s my way of dealing with this. Sharing my journey is also part of this process… I can only hope it reminds you that all is not lost and that someone, somewhere understands what you’re going through”, she wrote in her post.
Director Karan Johar and producer Ekta Kapoor were among those who reacted to her update, sending their love and wishes.
Last week, the ‘Sarfarosh’ actress had revealed that she had been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. Her colleagues from the film industry had wished her a speedy recovery.
