Bhilai, Sep 16: SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Steel Melting Shop 3 set another milestone when flying tundish change operation was carried out successfully in CV 1 caster of Continuous Casting Plant on Sep 13, 2021.
By developing this expertise, SMS 3 created a new record of casting 34 heats in a sequence from CV1 caster, surpassing previous best of 25 heats in a sequence.
With most of the rail bloom requirement of the Plant’s Universal Rail Mill (URM) met from this caster, CV1 caster of SMS 3 is one of the prime production units of BSP. The successful flying tundish changeover operation will enable the shop to enhance its production from CV 1 caster. The entire requirement of rail blooms for URM will be fulfilled from this caster in coming days.
Anjani Kumar, Executive Director (Works) and Kingshuk Bhattacharjee CGM (SMS-3) were present on site during this occasion and encouraged the team led by Arvind Kumar, GM (Operation), Jitendra Kumar, GM (Operation) and P Satpathy, GM (Electrical).
Anirban Dasgupta, Director In-charge, Bhilai Steel Plant visited the site and congratulated the team for the milestone achievement.
