Raigarh police made a major breakthrough in arrested 6 on charges of Rs 8 lakh ‘satta-patti’ in context of ongoing IPL tournament. The police has also seized 14 mobiles and one LED TV from the premises.
As per instructions from SP Raigarh Santosh Singh the police is regularly taking action against the persons involved in ‘satta’ operations in the district.
The ‘Satta’ players hvae chosen a safe place ‘Gharghoda’ in Raigarh area and were operating this ‘satta’ from one of their relative’s place. The bidding for this ‘satta’ was done through mobile and payment was also done online in their account.
On getting clues about ‘satta’ operations in city, the Cyber Cell had put their informers behind ‘Khaiwal’ of Raigarh Kotara road Rounak alias Golu Agrawal and Vikas Agrawal alias Punnu of Ganja Chowk. The informer tipped the police that Moh. Shabbi is going regularly to Chadini chowk and ‘Gharghoda’. On this the Cell updated TI Gharghoda thana to track Moh. Shabbir and keep an eye on his movement.
It was on Sep 22 at 22:00 hrs, the police raided Moh. Shabbir’s relative Samir KHan residence in Gharghoda and nabbed red-handed some persons playing online ‘satta’ for IPL cricket tournament. No persons present in the room could escape.
The police arrested all six ‘satta’ operators along with cash of Rs 7240, 14 mobile phones, one DELL company’s laptop, pen and register with total of Rs 8 lakh worth of ‘satta- patti’ written on it.
A case under section 4 (K) of Gambling Act was filed against all six in Gharghoda thana and informed the Cyber Cell to collect more information about the links mentioned.
