Situation improves in J&K with resumption of normal activities

Situation has improved with resumption of normal activities. In Jammu Division, Prohibitory orders under CrPC section 144 have been completely lifted in five districts and curfew was relaxed in Doda and Kishtwar districts, paving the way for resumption of normal activities. All schools and colleges reopened in five districts of the Jammu region today.

All the market places and shops reopened and traffic has resumed as normal in all these districts bringing much relief to the people. Restrictions, however, continued to be in place in Poonch, Rajouri, Doda , Kishtwar and Ramban districts.

Situation in Srinagar is peaceful with some private vehicles plying on roads and some movement of people seen on the roads. According to Divisional Commissioner, Srinagar, there is no dearth of stock of food grains & poultry. Majority of food and supplies stores have been opened today. Stock of petrol and diesel has been replenished in Kashmir Valley.

AIR correspondent reports that administration has released advance salary of daily wage workers for the month of August and has made some langars operational at Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar, Hospitals and other public places in Srinagar. Srinagar District administration is helping the non state labourers who want to return home. Special train coaches from Udhampur/Jammu have been coordinated in view of large number of workers including those going home on Eid.
