Raipur, Nov 25: Health Minister TS Singhdeo launched the Mass Drug Consume Campaign (MDA – Mass Drug Administration) in the state under the National Filaria Eradication Program. He started the campaign by taking anti-Filariasis medicine himself. As part of the campaign, all above the age of two years in all the development blocks of Surguja district and Premnagar, Ramanujanagar and Surajpur blocks of Surajpur district from November 23 to 30 will be given medicines to prevent filariasis. During this period, children and adolescents between the ages of one to 19 years will also be given the Anthelmintic drug Albendazole. Inaugurating the mass drug intake campaign for eradication of filaria, Health Minister said that all citizens should consume the prescribed amount of medicine to prevent Filariasis. These medicines are completely safe. He said that apart from fighting Corona, we are also focusing on other health programs.
Keeping in mind the country’s commitment to eradicate Filaria by the year 2021, a mass drug intake campaign is being launched from Surguja, giving priority to public health even during the Covid-19 epidemic.
Anti-filariasis will be consumed in the centers. After that from November 24 to 26, Mitanins and Anganwadi workers will go door-to-door to give medicines to the people. In the last phase of the campaign, a mock-up round will be conducted for those who have missed the medicine from November 27 to 30.
