Santosh Trophy Championship: West Bengal enter finals after beating Manipur 3-0
West Bengal stormed into the final of the 75th Santosh Trophy National Football tournament by beating Manipur 3-0 in the semifinal at the Manjeri Payyanad Stadium in Kerala yesterday evening.
West Bengal had a remarkable start with Sujit Singh placing the ball past the Manipur goalkeeper in the 3rd minute of the game. Fardin Ali Molla’s goal came four minutes later.
Dilip Orawan executed the third goal in the 73rd minute by hoisting a long ball towards the Manipur goal post, which confounded the goalkeeper that he completely misread the trajectory.
The second half saw Manipur making sincere efforts to return to the game, but the West Bengal defence held firm.
In the final, 32 times champion West Bengal will take on hosts Kerala on Monday.
