SAIL-BSP’s Ore Handling Plant sets best ever day record of unloading wagons

Bhilai, Dec 03: SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Ore Handling Plant (OHP) has surpassed the previous record of unloading 586 Wagons on November 14, 2020 by unloading 629 wagons on November 29, 2020. This day record is the best ever record of unloading Wagons on a single day at OHP. OHP-B has created a record of ever best minimum duration of Box wagons unloading in 04:40 hours in October 2020. For these achievements, Anirban Dasgupta, Director in-charge of BSP, congratulated the OHP fraternity and expressed confidence to do better in future.
Chief General Manager (OHP) BL Chandwani while congratulating the OHP team said that the credit for the record unloading of wagons goes to the better planning and excellent strategy of our OHP team. Our team has set a record of unloading wagons 5 times in this calendar year. The dedicated team of OHP has consistently maintained timely supply of raw materials to various departments through their collective efforts. I congratulate each member of OHP for these achievements.
Setting a new benchmark by breaking previous records continuously, the OHP collective is ensuring maximum equipment availability and timely inspection. With a thrust to adhere to IMS standards, Behaviour based Safety has been adopted by OHP as a medium to sensitise employees and make them aware of targets and vision of OHP. Employees and contractual labour of OHP have been sensitised about the need to maintain zero demurrage and the impact of demurrage to Bhilai Steel Plant.
SK Sinha, GM (OHP) feels that proper synergy between OHP, T&D and RMD has led to better results. Every person is told about the repurcussions of not unloading the wagons on time and its monetary impact, Says BD Babu, GM (OHP). Rajeev Sethi, GM (OHP) is of the opinion that timely placement of wagons by Traffic and Diesel department, avoiding bunching of rakes has helped us achieve this record.
AR Mandal, DGM (OHP) states that Iron ore lumps are being used to replace steel scrap in SMS2 and SMS3, leading to substantial savings. A stock house of Iron ore has also been created recently at the Bulk charge yard of SMS 1 recently, he added.
It’s worth mentioning that OHP Team that has been striving to supply raw material consistently to the consumer shops viz., Sinter Plants, Blast Furnaces, Steel Melting Shops and Refractory Material Plants.
Mechanical Team of OHP has also carried out many notable jobs like Inhouse tyre repair of Barrel Reclaimer # 1, revamping of Excavator # 5, revamping of Barrel Reclaimer # 3, repair of Travelling feed bin. Also, Dust suppression system has been made Inhouse. Electrical section has modified and installed Track Hopper Compressor panel with control supply of 220 V from 440V. Sirens have been installed at different conveyors. Also, Belt Safety Switch (BSS) and Zero Speed Sensors (ZSS) have been installed at OHP.
