RtR India launches ‘Main Jahan Seekhna Wahan’ learning campaign in Chh’garh

Tilda, Aug 31: The twenty-five-day-long Reading Campaign “Main Jahan SeekhnaWahan”, “NahiRukengeNanhe Kadam, Ghar par bhi Seekhenge hum” by Room to Read (RtR) in collaboration with Government of Chhattisgarh commenced on the August 15, 2021. Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Minister, School Education, Tribal and Scheduled Caste, Backward Class, and Minority Development Minister, launched the campaign in Chhattisgarh. He graced the occasion with his message to parents and caregivers urging their support to their child’s learning at home and ensure children have access to different learning materials during the campaign from 15th August to 8th September 2021. He requested parents solely dedicate 15- 30 minutes every day to help them continue learning even at home.
The minister launched “Chunnu Munni ki Bhasha Boli”, a unique public television designed for children’s interactive learning with support from parents and teachers.
At the onset of the reading Campaign, the scholars of the girl’s education program of Room to Read in Tilda block of Chhattisgarh took the initiative of introducing a mobile Bullock cart library with the support of the Sarpanch of the village and social mobilizers of Girl’s Education Program. These GEP scholars of Tilda donated their childhood storybooks to the mobile library to encourage reading habits. This initiative resulted in engagement with their younger siblings and community children to encourage reading habits during their free time. Street Play (NukkadNatak) on promoting reading culture among children in Tilda block of Raipur and Story Telling (Kahani Sunao) Competition &PustakVachan (Book distribution) was organized by the school in Rajnandgaon.
