‘Rokka-Cheka’ campaign not effective in Fingeshwar

Fingeshwar, Jul 12: The state government’s ‘Rokka-Cheka’ campaign is not proving to be successful at ground-level nd it is only limited to figures and tall claims. It is notable here that the state government launched this scheme to save stray cattle from getting killed in roads and saving the crop during peak of the sowing season. Under this the stray cattle in villages are supposed to be kept in the ‘Gouthans’, where all care and security is provided.
But in Fingeshwar block the cattle can be found roaming out in the open on streets and other areas from morning till evening hours, giving an open invitation to accidents from vehicles. Neither the Nagar panchayat is much concerned about it, nor the traffic department. Set aside this the owners of these cattle also are not at all serious, despite knowing the fact that during monsoon the cattle come to streets and are often falling victim of accident.
It is in order to stop killing of cattle and other animals sitting on the road and to save the crops, CM Bhupesh Baghel launched ‘Rokka-Cheka’ campaign in the state, but its reality is known on the streets in Fingeshwar, where cattle can be found sitting on the roads.
This is not only affecting the traffic, but causing injuries and death to cattle sitting on roads and no visible during night-hours. Daily there are reports of some or the other accident on account of the same and the Panchayat is least bothered about it. Janpad Panchayat President Jagdish Yadav said that instructions have been given to employees either to take the stray cattle to ‘Kanji House’ or to take them to nearest Gouthans, but the same is not been followed. Many cattle owners leave their cattle out in the open and this is posing problems for vehicle riders and others and he assured to take action against those showing carelessness in this work.
