Retired Engineer loses Rs 20 lakh to online fraud

Raipur, Jun 13: A retired engineer the capital Raipur has been duped of a large sum of his hard earned money to cyber fraud. Fraud duped him of money from three bank accounts after seeking his bank details under pretext of updating KYC. The matter pertains to Amanaka Police Station. Police have registered offence and started searching frauds in this connection.
According to Amanaka Police, a 73-year-old retired engineer Parasnath Pathak, residing in Mahavir Apartment, fell victim to major online fraud. The incident occurred on Thursday when he was at his home. He received call on his mobile phone from unidentified caller who somehow won his confidence by talking of updating KYC. On getting swayed by the unidentified caller, Parasnath then shared details of his SBI bank accounts in Tatibandh. Subsequently unidentified fraud siphoned off total 20 lakh from his three bank accounts.
Pulkit Pathak, son of Parasnath, lodged a written complaint of this fraud incident at Amanaka police station. The police have registered the offence of fraud against two vicious unknown mobile number holders who called Parasnath Pathak and handed over the matter to the cyber cell for investigation.
According to the police, the vicious frauds, using internet banking, transferred money from three bank accounts of Pathak to their accounts online in 50 to 60 installments. Raipur Cyber ??Cell is trying to get access to the accused. The police have appealed to the people not to share their personal and confidential information on any unknown phone call.
