W ith so many of us around spending our days in tracksuits—and new designers taking the reins of global fashion, Raipur has no less a crowd yearning for Givenchy and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The couture customer here in the state is curious and mad to follow the global vogue map. But, behind every haute couture dress or suit lies thousands of hours of care, craft and construction by some select designers who prefer silence, to make their work fly. Season after season, that state has surprised legions of fashion enthusiast in carving a niche for itself.
But, where do we find a global touch and feel in attire and fabric – then one need to walk in at DB DESIGNER STUDIO, RAIPUR, for fashion to find them hidden in the comfy store in the heart of the city. The store is run by fashion designer DOLLY BADWANI, who has already created a niche for herself in Chhattisgarh’s fashion capital, Raipur. I, ME, MYSELF
Since childhood, ART has always been part of me, and as a teenager my passion for Fashion started to show up and I knew I wanted to pursue my career in Fashion Designing.
In 2007, I graduated in fashion designing from MATS University. My vision was to launch my own label but I did not have any idea on how to start, thereby I joined Kolkata based fashion designer Abhishek Dutta as an intern, where I was promoted as an assistant designer and had the privilege of attending Asia’s most influential fashion shows like Lakmé fashion week, Wills India fashion week and Bridal Asia. In 2008, I started my professional journey as a costume stylist with Zee 24 Ghante & Chhattisgarh News Channel. After working as a freelance designer & costume stylist for 5years, my vision of launching my own label DB (Dolly Badwani) got accomplished in 2013. There was no looking back since than, In 2016 I launched my store DB Designer Studio in Fafadih, Raipur. DB has been part of many exhibitions like Boutiques of India, Fashionista, Sutra, Milaan etc.I have been sponsoring DB collection in all mega events and shows of IBC24 news channel. DB has been part of NH Goel Finishing School by sponsoring collections for their fashion shows and had a privilege of being a jury member of the same. At DB, we offer Indian ethnic wear, bridal couture, kid’s apparels, accessories in a lot. Our customized wears are the ones which are the most in demand, it goes according to the taste of the customer and our own vision justified towards fashion.
Married with 2 kids; my family has always been my biggest support system. My parents always encouraged us to aim high & follow our dreams and my husband helped me to achieve those dreams. I like to balance professional & family life. Professional life gives me exposure, confidence & sense of achievement. My future plan is to set up my own fashion institute.
