Ace Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth today advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Badminton tournament at Jakarta.

In Women’s Singles, Sindhu, seeded fifth, came back from a game behind to beat Japan’s Aya Ohori, 11-21, 21-15, 21-15. In Men’s Singles, eighth-placed Srikanth defeated another Japanese Kenta Nishimoto in straight games, 21-14, 21-13.

B. Sai Praneeth, however, bowed out after losing to Wong Wing Ki of Hong Kong, 15-21, 21-13, 10-21. HS Prannoy is the other Indian who will be looking to book a berth in the Singles second round today.

The Mixed Doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and the Men’s Doubles duo of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy will also be seen in action.

Yesterday, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated their Malaysian opponents to advance to the Men’s Doubles Round-of-16.

Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy entered the Mixed Doubles second round.
