Proposals invited for setting up of sugarcane based ethanol plant in Bemetra

Raipur, Jul 16: As per the intentions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, a virtual discussion was organized at Udyog Bhawan, Raipur on July 14 regarding investment possibilities for setting up sugarcane based ethanol units in Bemetra district. The event was organized by the Department of Commerce and Industry with the aim of promoting the development of ethanol based new investment sector in the state.
In this program, more than 100 participants from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh and Chhattisgarh, including the country’s leading entrepreneurial organizations, cooperatives and industrial associations, National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Industries Association, West Indian Sugar Mill Association, PHDCCI, FICCI, CII and representatives and members of industrial organizations of the state participated virtually.
Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industry Department, Manoj Kumar Pingua, in his remarks, gave important information related to the project to the investors and said that sugarcane is produced in abundance in Bemetra district, due to which the establishment of sugarcane based ethanol plant here has been done.
He said that in view of the industrial development of the state, provision has been made by the Chhattisgarh government to provide all necessary facilities and assistance to the investors. The government is ready to provide all possible help for industrial development.
During the workshop, Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Managing Director Mr. P. Arun Prasad discussed the possibilities of development of ethanol sector and establishment of sugarcane based ethanol units in the state and the capacity of the state, available facilities, grants and incentives and investment policies.
Giving information about the major features of the Industrial Policy 2019-24, it was told that this policy has been made keeping in view the overall industrial and economic development of the state. Competitive land rates and interest have been fixed for setting up industries in the state. During this, he resolved the questions and doubts of the participants and invited them to invest in the field of ethanol production in the state. During the virtual discussion, participants from other states of the country including Chhattisgarh and representatives of industrial institutions showed interest in investment for setting up ethanol plant in Bemetra district.
