Promising future for stem cell research

Raipur, Feb 13: To promote and stimulate collaborative efforts to research in the field of Regenerative Science a two-day 4th Biennial International Conference (13-14th Feb) of the Indian Stem Cell Study Group Association ISCSGCON-2021 has been inaugurated in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur on Saturday. Medical experts from across the country urged researchers to come forward and leverage vast opportunities available in stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
While inaugurating the Conference, Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar congratulated all the medical professionals participating in the program for their efforts to promote stem cell research in India. ‘Regenerative science is an interdisciplinary field in medical science that has the potential to heal or replace the tissue or organ damaged by age, disease trauma and normalize congenital defects. Promising results have been observed in the fields of spinal cord injuries, tumors, cerebral palsy, PPRP , Lathyrism congenital anomalies as well as in fracture union, wound healing, and in the field of other disciplines like Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Medicine, Neurosciences, etc.’, he said. According to Prof. (Dr.) Alok Chandra Agrawal, Organizing Secretary ‘ this Conference aims to promote and stimulate all efforts to encourage more research in the field of Regenerative science and to represent it at the National and International levels. The Conference will certainly help the medical fraternity in the Country to update themselves the current status and practice in the field of Regenerative Sciences including Stem Cells, Platelet-rich plasma, Platelet Rich Fibrin, Stromal Vascular Fraction and Regulations’, he said.
The Conference has been organized in hybrid mode. Experts from different medical institutions including AIIMS, Delhi are imparting lectures on current topics of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells. Inaugural Session witnessed Presentations by Dr. Sujata Mohanti, HoD, Dept. of Stem Cell from AIIMS Delhi on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Dr. Kanchan Mishra from Surat on RM Applications of MSC and Challenges in Clinical Development, Dr. Shantharam Shetty from Mangalore on BMAC in AVN and Nonuion of Long Bones. Dr. Rupa Mehta from AIIMS Raipur delivered a lecture on Regenerative medicine Otorhinolaryngology.
