Principal Secretary chairs meeting to control dengue, visits affected areas

Bhilai, Jun 20: An effective strategy has been prepared to control dengue in Durg district, which was discussed on Sunday in a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary (Health) Dr Alok Shukla. It was decided that along with applying the standard methods to contain dengue, techniques like geo tagging would also be used to fight the menace.
It was also decided that hospitals should also be strengthened under constant monitoring. Effective arrangements will be ensured for the arrangement of platelets etc for dengue patients. Dr Shukla said that working in hotspots would be better with technology like geo tagging so that more and more patients could be identified. He added that 40 thousand testing kits will also be provided to the district so that maximum number of people can be tested and dengue can be effectively controlled.
The Principal Secretary also visited dengue affected areas in Sector-4 and Chhawni and interacted with the people. During his interaction he asked the people to be vigilant and take measures to prevent the spread. The Principal Secretary also inspected the steps being taken by the Corporation in the dengue hotspot areas. Corporation officials explained to him about fogging and Temephos distribution which is being done on a continuous basis, as well as the checking of water coolers etc. Dr Shukla said that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water, so it is very important that clean water should not be allowed to stagnate anywhere, for this effectively publicity should be done and a strategy to deal with dengue should be made on a war footing. Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said that intensive monitoring is being done in this regard so that dengue can be prevented from spreading. He added that all efforts are being made to control dengue in the district. Appeal is being made to the general public not to allow water to accumulate in the places around them. In order to prevent water-borne diseases, the Collector directed that water testing should be done at different levels, so that everyone can get clean water. Larvae if found in any area should be destroyed.
The Collector informed that the joint team of ANM, Anganwadi workers, ANM of National Health Mission and Arogya Samiti are into public awareness by conducting door to door survey in each ward. During the meeting and inspection, NRHM MD Dr Priyanka Shukla, Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi were also present.
